Commissioning a bespoke artwork is a collaborative journey that transforms your unique vision into a personalized masterpiece. By engaging in this creative process, you'll acquire an original piece that resonates with your aesthetic preferences and holds personal significance. Explore the opportunity to bring your artistic ideas to life through a custom commission.

My goal is to include my client as much as possible in the process, gathering information, discussing colours and setting the expectations for delivering exactly what the client wants as well as being true to my own hand.

 

Part 1 - Composition and Studies

The first step is reaching out to me to discuss your artwork! I usually set up a time to meet at your location (if possible) or ask for images of the space you want the work. You should have a good supply of reference photos, colour swatches or general idea of what you are after. But don’t worry, I will call to discuss to walk you through what is required for a productive start. It is at this point, if I havne’t emailied it you beforehand, you are given a commission contract. My contract clearly lays out all the details and expectations. We can discuss any questions you have at this time.

After our inital meeting, we begin the real work of disucssing expectations, specifics of content and lock in the direction and style. This stage can take a bit of time as it is vital to ensuring I understand the brief. This is when we lock the concept, the composition, the colour, the size. It can be very fun and very should put us both at ease with moving forward to the next stage.

What you can Expect:

  • Meeting to go over the commission process and discuss your scope of work.

  • Review and sign the contract

  • Meetings and discussion to lock in the scope and direction

  • Meeting(s) to go over the preliminary sketches and/or colour studies to establish the composition and overall aesthetic of the work.

  • Includes up to three (3) revisions, focusing on layout, colour palette, and general direction.

  • Final sign off on the direction and agreement to proceed to begining the painting.

 

Part 2 - Creating Your Artwork

Here is where it starts to come together! We did the hard work and we are ready to put paint to canvas. During this stage of the process I am sending ou photos of my progress. Sometimes clients feel nervous as paintings are works of layers and time. But, I walk you through it as we go and you can voice your concerns or trust the process. The key is keeping the communication up and being transparent. It really is fun to watch a painting come to life over time.

What you can Expect

  • I regularly share progress updates, this ensures I am constantly in communication with you and we can navigate any concerns in a timely manner.

  • The duration of this stage depends on the complexity and size of the work.

 

Stage 3 - COmpletion- Framing and Delivery

Now we are coming to the end of the project and the commission is just about finalised. This is where we are all getting excited to see it up on the wall. I will ususlly schedule another meeting to finalise the project, make any small and minor correction to ensure you are happy, and discuss payment, delivery and framing options. This can include helping you decide on a frame. I dont frame your work within the commission cost, but if you want me to frame the work, I am more than happy to quote it for you.

Great care and active collaboration ensures the process is pleasant and pleasing for both parties. Being Transparent throughout the process means you are happy and in love with their purchase and I find deep satisfaction in realizing your vision while staying true to my own creative style and nature.  .

What you can expect

  • Upon completion and receipt of the final payment, the artwork will be prepared for delivery.

  • Completion is defined as the art is finalised and ready to frame and ship.

  • Framing and shipping, if required, will be handled according to prior agreements.

  • Delivery timelines are subject to the "Due Date," logistics, and any additional services requested (e.g., framing). Framing will only be performed after the final payment and after payment is received for the cost of framing.
